Juvenile Drug Treatment Court
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Ottawa County Juvenile Drug Treatment Court is to reduce the abuse of alcohol, other drugs and related criminal activity.
Program Goals
- To divert participants from detention and long-term residential placement.
- To promote public safety by reducing substance abuse and delinquent activity among participants.
- To improve the quality of life for participants through community involvement, programs and services.
Program Overview
- Four (4) phase program
- Program lasts 9-12 months
- Intensive supervision
- Substance abuse treatment to juveniles
- Effective problem-solving and parenting skills
- $300 program fee
Program Components
Phase I: (Minimum 30 days)
- Random drug testing (3 times per week)
- Nightly curfew of 7:30 p.m.
- Weekly court review hearings for both juvenile and parent/guardian
- Consistent attendance and performance in school
- Family participation in Parent Education Group (PEG) and/or Parent Support Group (PSG) as required
Phase II: (Minimum 45 days)
- Mandatory weekly support meetings
- Individual/family/group counseling
- Nightly curfew of 7:30 p.m.
- Minimum 2 court review hearings per month for both juvenile and parent/guardian
- Random drug testing (3 times per week)
- Individual Life Plan created and implemented.
- Attendance to pre-social activities (twice per month)
- Consistent attendance and performance in school
- Attendance to court review hearings for juvenile
Phase III: (Minimum 60 days)
- Continuing Care Plan/relapse prevention/prevention
- Consistent/established use of community resources/pro-social behaviors
- Random drug testing
- Continued implementation of Life Plan
- Individual/family/group counseling
- Minimum 2 court review hearings per month for both juvenile and parent/guardian.
- Mandatory school attendance
- Nightly curfew of 9:00 p.m.
Phase IV: (Minimum 75 days)
- Support group attendance
- Counseling for parents and youth
- Minimum 1 court review hearing per month for both juvenile and parent/guardian
- Public speaking opportunities for youth
- Mandatory school attendance
- Random drug tests (minimum one time per week)
