Where Does the Planning Board Meet?
The Department of Homeland Security has identified eleven individual investments designed to enhance statewide capabilities in specific targeted areas that align with the FY10 State and Federal initiatives:
- Information Sharing Environment
- Enhanced Protection and Resilience of Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources
- Assess and Enhance Border Capabilities
- Strengthen Emergency Responder Communication and Public Notification Capabilities
- Enhanced Regional Planning and Response Capacity
- CBRNE Preparedness and Response
- Targeted Catastrophic Planning
- Medical Surge/Mass Prophylaxis
- Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS) Capabilities Enhancement
- Citizen’s Corps Investment
- Multi-State Partnership for Agriculture Security
The FY10 Homeland Security Grant Program Priorities are:
- Guarding Against Terrorism
- Securing our Borders
- Enforcing Our Immigration Laws
- Improving Preparedness for, Response to, and Recovery from Disasters
Michigan has created seven Homeland Security Regions following current Michigan State Police District boundaries and Office of Public Health Preparedness Bio-Defense Network Regions.
Ottawa County is in Region 6 along with Clare, Ionia, Isabella, Kent, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana and Osceola counties. These 13 counties form the Region 6 Homeland Security Grant Planning Board.
The Region 6 Planning Board has formed the following Sub-Committees and Advisory Committees to work on projects to meet both State and Federal goals:
