Outstanding Customer Service Awards

First Quarter 2015 Award Recipient

Join us in congratulating Deputy Rachel McDuffee from the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, who has been recognized as Ottawa County’s Outstanding Customer Service Award recipient of the first quarter of 2015.

The individuals who nominated Rachel wrote:

"Dep. McDuffee stopped a vehicle for a vision obstruction (windows covered with snow). Dep. McDuffee scraped all windows of the vehicle before letting the driver proceed. At the informal hearing, the driver expressed her sincere gratitude to Dep. McDuffee for providing this service and complimented Dep. McDuffee for treating her with respect even in spite of receiving a citation. "

Number of Years Employed by Ottawa County:

I have been employed with Ottawa County since Nov 23, 2014

The thing that I like most about working for Ottawa County is:

The opportunity it gives me to build relationships throughout the county.

The hardest thing I have ever done:

The hardest thing I have ever done in terms of endurance is complete a 22 mile mountain bike race on Crystal Mountain. In terms of my job, is informed loved one's that a family member has passed.

You would be surprised to learn that:

I enjoy collecting police patches from places I have traveled.

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would you pick and why?

I would have dinner with my mother who is still living. She is one of the greatest people I know. She raised both my sister and I with strong moral values. She has taught me to do the best I can. She has always believed in me and supported my goals.

If you had to spend all of your vacations for the rest of your life in the same place, where would you go?

I would spend my vacation in Ashville, NC. I love the mountains and still enjoy the 4 seasons, however, they have "light" winters.

If you could travel back in time to any certain era or event, when/where would you pick and why?

I would travel back in time to see my "grandie" (grandma) when I was 16 years old and we danced together in her kitchen to Pasty Cline.
