"I work for another department at the County and I had a customer call only speaking Spanish and I could not assist her. I called to see if Arlette was willing to help me and she stopped her work and came to our office to talk to my customer for me and translate. It was awesome to have her help because we were still able to give the customer great customer service even with a language barrier. I believe that is the Ottawa way and I would like to thank Arlette for that."

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would you pick and why?

I would love to have dinner with my deceased mother. She always gave me great advice and was always supportive.

If you had to spend all of your vacations for the rest of your life in the same place, where would you go and why?

I would love to spend all my vacations in France even though I have never been there.

If you could travel back in time to any certain era or event, when/where would you pick and why?

My high school years. I hate that I was very quiet and shy, and now here I am working in Customer Service lol.

Andrew Hafler, Sheriff’s Office

Award Recipient

The individual who nominated Andrew wrote:

"Deputy Hafler responded to the home of an elderly resident who was having an issue with a pump constantly running in his basement. Deputy Hafler found the problem to be a split supply line to the washing machine that was spraying water in the basement. Deputy Hafler was able to turn the water off. While speaking with the elderly subject he found out that he had no one around to assist him. On his next shift Deputy Hafler returned with a water supply line he had purchased with his own money and fixed the gentleman's washing machine. Deputy Hafler went out of the way to assist the gentleman who otherwise may have struggled to have the problem fixed."
