Youth Assessment Survey
The Ottawa County Youth Assessment Survey (YAS) is a part of the health surveillance
system that monitors the prevalence of youth health risk behaviors in Ottawa County.
The purposes of the survey are: to monitor how priority health risk behaviors among
students increase, decrease, or remain the same over time; to monitor progress in
achieving the National Healthy People 2010 Objectives; and to provide meaningful
information that helps local agencies and schools focus programs and policies to
reduce behaviors that contribute most to the leading causes of mortality and
morbidity.
