- June 30, 2007 Service Provider: Kandu Incorporated Program Summary: The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) In-School and Out-of-School Youth Programs assist eligible youth by developing work experiences and skills through job search, job shadowing, on-the-job training, and vocational training. The program provides assistance with transportation and daycare expenses. Services available at the Michigan Works! Service Centers. Performance Measure: The WIA program performance indicators for younger youth (ages 14-18) include skill attainment rate, diploma (or equivalent) attainment rate and retention rate. The performance indicators for older youth (ages 18-21) include entered employment rate, retention rate, average change in earnings, and credential attainment rate. The program provides activities to increase employment, retention, earnings, and occupational skill level of participants. | Work First Program | |||
| Program Year: October 1, 2006
- September 30, 2007 Service Provider: Kandu Incorporated Program Summary: The Work First program is designed to enhance the employability of public assistance recipients and enable them to become more competitive in the labor market and bring about Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) case closure with the Department of Human Services (DHS). Participants are referred by the DHS and the Friend of the Court. Performance Measures: This program tracks the number of Work First participants who maintain employment for 90-days, TANF case closure due to income, the number of Work First participants placed into selected education and training activities, and the cost effectiveness of the program. - June 30, 2007 Service Provider: Zeeland Public Schools Program Summary: Employment Services provides a nationwide labor exchange system to assist job seekers in finding employment, assist employers in filling jobs, and facilitating the match between job seekers and employers. This program serves the needs of the general population. Employment Services administers the Federal Bonding Program, Trade Act programs, Re-employment Services, and Mediated Services for those needing extra assistance in finding employment.
