To reach Pottawatomie Bayou you stay on the south bank of the river where the river forks around a large island. There are two other bayous you must pass along the south bank of the river before reaching Pottawatomie Bayou. The entrance to the bayou is under a small bridge.

Pottawatomie Park is located on the west side of the bayou about ¾ mile paddle into the bayou. A fishing dock juts into the bayou and you should be able to see picnic shelters and a playground.

There are 3 picnic shelters, modern restrooms, and a ½ mile hiking trail at this park. This park also offers two volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and a soccer field.
