Quarantine and Isolation Calculators

The Ottawa County Department of Public Health has aligned with recently updated interim CDC guidance for isolation and quarantine. We expect our communications, policies, procedures, and systems - such as this calculator - to be updated to reflect the latest CDC guidance within the next week. While our systems are being updated, please refer to CDC for determining isolation and quarantine timelines.

You have tested positive and have symptoms

Isolation Calculator

If you are symptomatic and have tested positive for COVID-19 then you must isolate for at least 10 days from the date your symptoms began. To stop or discontinue isolation, at least 10 days must have passed since your symptoms began and at least 24 hours have passed since your fever went away without the use of fever-reducing medications (such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen) and other symptoms have improved.

Enter the first day your symptoms began below:
Are you immunocompromised?

If symptoms do not improve or you are hospitalized at any point during your isolation your isolation period will be extended. Go to www.miottawa.org/isolationrelease to determine if you are eligible for release from isolation.

You have been identified as a close contact

Quarantine Calculator

If you have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, you need to quarantine for 10 days from your last contact date and monitor yourself for symptoms. If you have continuous contact or ongoing exposure to someone who tested positive (e.g. live in the same household with the ill person), you need to quarantine for 10 days after the person who tested positive was released from isolation, and monitor yourself for symptoms through the 14th day. Follow CDC guidance if symptoms develop.

Is this an ongoing exposure (e.g. living with or providing care to someone who tested positive)?
