Intermediate Cross-Country Ski Class

Winter Night Hike

Hemlock Crossing Nature Education Center

Experience the nip of cold on your nose, the hoot of owls in your ears, and the crunch of snow under your feet as you explore parks by the light of the moon! If conditions allow, we will snowshoe. Bring your own or reserve a pair. Recommended for adults, and children 12+.

Registration fee refundable upon participation.

*Walk will be of moderate difficulty, and could include steep terrain.

IF YOU ARE RENTING SNOWSHOES:

* PLEASE choose "Snowshoe Rental: Adult" or "Snowshoe Rental: Child" options to cover BOTH $5 registration fee and additional $5 snowshoe fee. DO NOT double register by also selecting "Adult" or "Child" registration options. Thank you!

* In the registration comment section, please enter the snowshoe size using the information below. Snowshoe size is more dependent upon weight than shoe size.

Weight Range up to 165 lbs. Size 13 **best for kids and lightweight adults

Winter Waterfowl Birding Field Trip

Winter Waterfowl Birding - Bird Pigeon Lake and the Lake Michigan Shoreline in search of the waterfowl of winter. Finish off at lunch time by viewing birds at the Hemlock Crossing Nature Center feeders.

Don't forget to sign up for the "Birding the Barrens" Birding Field Trip on the same date at 2pm-5pm!

Fee Required. Additional information and meeting location will be emailed to participants prior to the trip.

Birding the Barrens Field Trip

Birding the Barrens - After watching the feeders for a while, trek the snowy open farmland "barrens" of central Ottawa County in search of winter bird specialties.

Don't forget to sign up for the Winter Waterfowl Birding Field Trip on the same date at 10am-1pm!

Acrylic Painting Class: Birches Under the Winter Moon

Enjoy the amazing winter landscapes and learn how to capture them on canvas. This workshop led by naturalist/artist, Nancy Berg, will lead you in a step by step process in the method of landscape painting using acrylic paint and canvas. No prior artistic experience required. All materials provided to complete a 16X20" canvas painting. Cost for materials and instruction is $20.00

Class is for adults and children 12+

Keep It Active Winter Walk

Don't hibernate..... activate! These winter walks aim to keep you outside and

active during the long, cold months of winter. Join parks naturalists for a one hour

"sauntering" walk. Meet new people, discover a new Ottawa County

park, or enjoy the same one in a different season. If snow conditions allow,

we will use snowshoes. Bring your own or register ahead to reserve a pair.
